About
Andrew (Andy) Coet is a Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst and Owner of Summit Behavioral Therapy. Born and raised in the Tampa Bay area, he attended school at the University of South Florida. Andy found his passion for working with individuals with disabilities during his undergraduate years through his fraternity, Pi Kappa Phi, and their philanthropy, The Abilities Experience. He was a member of the 2014 Abilities Experience Cycling Team which biked cross-country to increase awareness for people with disabilities and raise funds to support the organizations that serve them. In 2015, he received his Bachelors in Criminology with a double minor in Applied Behavior Analysis and American Sign Language. He is a member of the Spring 2018 graduating class of USF’s Applied Behavior Analysis Masters’ Program. Andy has specialized in working with individuals with Autism Spectrum disorder. The majority of his experience has been with children ages 3-14 working on improving a variety of skills including language, social behavior, cognitive ability, academic performance, safety skills and swimming, as well as reducing different types of maladaptive behavior.
Summit Behavioral Therapy is an behavioral therapy company that used applied behavioral analysis to help develop missing skills, reduce maladaptive behaviors, and teach replacement behaviors. Therapy is currently available in home school and community using a hybrid in person and telehealth model. Our goal is to teach our clients helpful and appropriate behaviors to help reduce the clients use of maladaptive and antisocial behaviors. As our clients learn to use these new skills they contact more natural reinforcers in their environments and are less reliant on the maladaptive behaviors to get their wants and needs met. Each client goes through an assessment process to identify what skills are missing, what problem behaviors are occurring, why they may be occuring, and what skills we can teach to help replace those problem behaviors. We then write an Individualized treatment plan and set up a team of one to two registered behavioral therapists and a BCBA to implement the treatment plan working with the client and their caregivers to achieve the best outcomes together.
